Health Update

22 Mar

Was doing morning ablutions and got to the Ocular hygiene bit when I discovered I’ve got another loose(ish) mass in my lower left eyelid. It’s nothing to panic about, I’ve had it happen before.
They eventually work themselves completely loose and just come out on their own.
There is some blood associated with that though.

When it happened for the 1st time last year I was SUPER scared, thinking my eye had hemorraged as I’d recently had my laser surgery. Luckily no, it was just a chalazion/granuloma working its way out.
Their incurable (great, two incurable conditions!) apparently.
And reoccur on a semi-regular basis.

At least this time I know how to deal with it and what to expect.
In the next few days I’ll probably wake up with blood down half of my face, that’s what happened last time.

I know this all sounds quite gory and fairly scary and I might sound quite blase about the whole thing.
That’s because I’m fully aware of the situation and what to expect.
Knowledge makes shit less scary, let me tell you.

I just thought I’d let you know, it might explain my recent eyelid inflamation too.
I’m hoping it won’t effect my Bradbury Challenge writing but I can’t be sure.
There is some mild discomfort right now, I’ll use some artificial tears to sort that.
Any, at least you know what’s going on with me right now.

Checking back in, as promised.

Diagnosis made, cause of pain found=dry eye. Treated with artificial tears, feeling somewhat better.

I’ll post this now because there’s the chance I might be offline for the next day or two.

Having major issues with pain in left eye, some rest seems to reduce it but not completely.

I’ll check back in when I know more.

Health Update

21 Feb

I didn’t say much about my recent visit to The Eye Clinic before because I wasn’t very happy.

Had a pressure spike in the right eye, it may well be that I am one of those people who doesn’t react well to the new type of glaucoma laser surgery being used to treat the condition. The minion who saw me in lieu of the consultant said he wanted to think about giving me more laser surgery.

It’s been a little less than 10 months since I had it last time and it was one of the most painful procedures I’ve ever undergone. Right now I’m on drops in my right eye for the next two weeks and going back for another pressure test in late May.

I’ve had two consecutive bad days in terms of eye pain and headache too, went to bed really early last night because I felt so bad. Probably retiring early tonight too after I go do tonights meds shortly. This change in my condition is quite depressing. I hope I can stick to my writing resolution but right now next Wednesday feels like a million miles away.

Hopefully a good nights rest will improve my outlook.

Health update, and a poem!

5 Nov

Got my MRI date, 2nd December. Not that far off, cool.

In the meantime, here’s a poem that I just wrote.

Twinkle twinkle little Czar how I wonder where you are,
Smashed aside by revolution, Russias greatest Czar solution.
You may twinkle little Czar, no-one cares now where you are.

Health Update

22 Oct

Nothing related to writing or much else, I know some of you reading will see my references to visiting the Eye Clinic/Hospital all for my glaucoma.

Today I had a Visual Fields Test, wasn’t good according to the Consultant.

Results are VASTLY different from over a year ago so she’s booking me in for an MRI scan.

On my brain.

I’ve had one before (about 10 yrs ago when I was having major issues with cluster headaches) so it’s not a big new scary thing to be doing. It’s just different to the normal tests and treatments I go through for my eyes.

Hopefully they will get me in and scanned sooner rather than later, I hate waiting for things like that.
I’ll report back when I get an actual date for it. Or after I’ve had it done.
