The Trip Back, A Flash Fiction Story by Raymond Daley

Sarge checked the chrono. “It’s ’43 alright boys! Fan out and find some street signs.”
The group moved like soldiers even if they were dressed like binmen.
The mission was simple, evacuate the civilans from the church.
Without them over 90 people would be killed during the next air raid.

Ater 15 minutes everyone reported back. No signs could be found, their location could not be positively verified.
So where are we?” asked the Sarge.
“Where the streets have no name?” replied the squad leader.
“Great,” said Sarge. “I’m stuck in a fucking U2 song?”
